Curry offers graduate degrees in more than twenty concentration areas with both full and part time programs. Check the area of study or the specific degree you are interested in for more details about due dates and application requirements.

Application due dates:

  • on-Grounds Ed.D. and Ph.D.: December 15
  • on-Grounds M.Ed. and Ed.S.: See Areas of Study for application due dates.
  • off-Grounds programs (spring admission-- October 15), (summer admission-- March 15), (fall admission-- June 1).

All application materials must be submitted by the application deadline. Be sure to monitor our receipt of transcripts, online recommendations,and test scores through the application website.  We understand we will not receive test scores from ETS until Nov. 11 if you took the new GRE exam. Once you receive official scores, scan a copy and email them to Ms. Palmore (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)), as this will help us locate your scores quickly.

Graduate Licensure and/or Endorsement Non-degree Programs

Curry offers two part-time programs: a licensure-only program in Special Education offered at the Northern Virginia Center and the endorsement-only program in Administration & Supervision which is offered both on Grounds and at multiple centers around the Commonwealth of Virginia.  Information about these programs can be found on the Administration and Supervision and Special Education websites.

All applicants to the licensure-only  program in Special Education must submit qualifying test scores on ONE of the exams below.  Scan a copy of your scores and email them to Phyllis Palmore (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)) or mail a copy of your scores to the address listed above.

  • PRAXIS I*: 178 math, 178 reading, 175 writing or 532 composite score OR
  • SATs taken prior to 4/1/95—score of 1000, with at least 450 verbal and 510 math; if taken after 4/1/95—score of 1100, with at least 530 verbal, 530 math OR
  • ACTs: taken prior to 4/1/95—score of 1100, with at least 450 verbal, 510 math; if taken after 4/1/95—composite score of 24, with at least 22 math, 46 English Plus Reading score, OR
  • VCLA: Reading and Writing as an optional assessment for the PRAXIS I reading and writing tests (writing subtest of 235, reading subtest of 235, composite score of 470) in combination with qualifying math scores from SATs, ACTs or PRAXIS I.

Application (online application and recommendations, transcripts and test score* due dates):

  • October 15 (spring entry to on/off-Grounds programs),
  • March 15 (summer or fall entry to on-Grounds programs; summer entry for off-Grounds programs)
  • June 1 (fall entry to off-Grounds programs).

Note: When listing schools you have attended, please do not list a school if the courses taken there show as transfer credits on your undergraduate or graduate transcript.  You may apply up to 6 credits from the endorsement/licensure program toward a degree.
