Postdoctoral Fellowship

In addition to pre-doctoral graduate education in clinical and school psychology, the Programs in Clinical and School Psychology offers the opportunity for postdoctoral fellowships through the Center for Clinical Psychology Services. Fellowships are one-year full-time appointments that include enough clinical experience and supervision to accrue hours toward licensure in Virginia. Training experiences include psychological assessment, psychotherapy, consultation, supervision, and teaching. Opportunities exist for collaboration with other disciplines within the Sheila C. Johnson Center for Human Services. Fellows may choose to concentrate their clinical work with particular populations (e.g., children, adolescents, adults) and/or diagnostic categories (e.g., autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, ADHD, emotional disturbance), or obtain experience with a broad range of clientele. Supervision includes 2 hours of weekly individual supervision, as well as group supervision/professional development seminars. Psychotherapy supervision is provided using a cognitive-behavioral framework but opportunities for clinical work and supervision using other theoretical orientations may be possible.

Applicants are expected to have experience with cognitive, academic, and social/emotional/personality assessment, as well as with psychotherapy. Graduation from an APA-accredited Clinical Psychology doctoral program is strongly preferred.  Admissions are made on a rolling basis throughout the year until all positions are filled.

To apply, a candidate must complete a candidate profile under job posting number 0609381 at http://jobs.virginia.edu.  Candidates are required to attach a cover letter stating their interest in the position, including their qualifications, a current vitae/resume, and the contact information for three professional references.  Please have your professional references email their recommendation letters to: Lisa Locke-Downer at lml7r@virginia.edu.  Screening of applications will begin March 2, 2012; however, the position will remain open until filled.
