Judy Bowns began her career in Fairfax County in 1970 as an English teacher. In 1998, she began supporting arts education from the county administrative level in the Fine Arts office.

In 2005, Judy graduated from the Curry School of Education with an M.Ed. in Social Foundations, after taking all of her coursework in northern Virginia.

“I really, really enjoyed those two years and two summers,” she says of her time working on her degree, “and the flexibility of the program was a perfect match for my schedule.”

Program Overview

SCPS-Curry Transition:

The Curry School of Education and the School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) are working together to provide a seamless transition of Off-Grounds education programming to Curry beginning on July 1, 2012.

Teacher and studentUntil that time coordination of services for all Off-Grounds students, programs and courses are the responsibility of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies. Any questions concerning enrollment, requirements, time, location and related matters should be referred to SCPS staff. Periodic updates to this message will be provided for students and faculty on each school’s website regarding next steps in this transition.

Any student currently enrolled in a degree program offered through SCPS will continue in that degree program with no interruption of course offerings or opportunities when the transition to Curry takes place.  After July 1, 2012, those students will be enrolled in Curry and their academic questions and needs addressed through Curry offices and staff.  Some of those Off-Grounds programs may not be accepting new students for Fall 2012, but all currently-enrolled students will be served.

All NEW students seeking enrollment in an Off-Grounds degree program to start after July 1, 2012 will apply and enroll directly through the Curry School and potential applicants should visit the Curry website for information on program offerings and locations and whether those programs will be enrolling new students.
