Why did you chose to pursue a Ph.D in Social Studies?
“Educating the American youth to become active, informed and responsible citizens is very important to me. I feel that a PhD in Social Studies Education provides me with the best teaching practices and research skills to become an effective teacher educator for the 21st century.”

Students interested in Social Studies have a variety of options at the Curry School of Education. For those interested in a master’s degree with licensure and endorsement, we offer our B/MT, the five-year program that includes both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree and our PGMT, a 2-year master’s program for those already with a bachelor’s degree. The M.Ed and an Ed.D degrees are offered in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning with an optional emphasis in Social Studies. Finally, a Ph.D. is available through Language, Literacy and Culture with a concentration in Social Studies.
