Master’s-Level Studies at the Curry School of Education
The five-year dual degree Teacher Education program is available for U.Va. undergraduate students currently enrolled in the Curry, the College of Arts & Sciences, and the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Students apply for "permission to enroll" second semester of their second year in the College of Arts and Sciences. The program provides a foundation in the liberal arts, content area preparation, and professional study in education. Students earn a bachelor's degree from degree from their undergraduate school and an M.T. from the Curry School of Education.
The B/MT degree is also a part of the 3+1 Program, where students with the appropriate number of college credit garnered while in high school can complete the B/MT in four total years instead of five.
The Postgraduate Master of Teaching (PGMT) is designed for individuals who have an undergraduate degree in a field other than education and are interested in the profession of teaching. Prospective graduate students apply to the two-year Postgraduate Master of Teaching (PGMT) program.
The Master of Education degree focuses on advanced training in disciplines related to education.
Students in the MBA/MEd dual degree program earn an M.Ed. from the Curry School of Education and an MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. Two years. Two degrees.
