Personal Statement
Daniel J. Driscoll is based at the university’s Academic Center in Falls Church, VA where he represents Curry’s Off-Grounds Social Foundations of Education M.Ed program. His areas of academic concentration are the history and philosophy of American education. His research interests include the educational legacy of the Scottish Enlightenment, its influence on education’s place in the American experiment, the evolution of the human rights regimen as it relates to education, the relationship between education and the anti-colonial independence movements in the Sub-Sahara, and contemporary K-12 educational issues related to race, gender, and socioeconomic status. In the Social Foundations program, Driscoll teaches Social Foundations of Education, History of American Education, Global Education: EFA, Independent Study research, and other courses.
