The Secondary Education programs are designed to assist individuals obtain an Master of Teaching degree and initial licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The programs include English Education, Mathematics Education, Science Education, and Social Studies Education in grades 6-12 and Foreign Language in grades K-12. Each of these programs builds on undergraduate study in the respective content major by allowing students to explore the content in school settings. Courses in curriculum and instructional models, content-specific pedagogy, and graduate level study in the content area are included. All of these experiences are designed to prepare students to teach in a middle and/or high school setting.
