The Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center started out in the trunk of Rachel Fowlkes’ (Ed.D. ‘84 Admin & Supv) car. More than a decade later, the center, which partners with 10 colleges to bring higher education programs to Southwest Virginia, has become a model for more than half a dozen other educational institutions. Fowlkes is the center’s executive director.
