Alumnus William Hite Named Superintendent of Philadelphia Schools

William R. Hite, Jr. (M.Ed. ’90 Admin & Supv) was named superintendent of the Philadelphia School District, one of the largest school systems in the nation.

Hite has been superintendent of Prince George’s County Schools since 2008. Since then, scores on state tests in Prince George’s have improved, according the Washington Post. “Hite’s main focus has been on education equity, trying to ensure that students throughout the county have the tools needed to graduate from high school, ready to go to college or go to work.”
