The Youth Violence Project, headed by Curry Professor and Youth-Nex associate director, Dewey Cornell, reports school homicides have been on the decline since 1993. Between the worst 10-year period, from 1992-2002, a student came onto school property and killed someone an average of 9.3 times a year in a nation averaging nearly 100,000 schools.
