Emotional Intelligence: Sense and Nonsense
Friday February 17, 2:00-3:00pm
CLIC (3rd floor Ruffner Hall)
Moshe Zeidner, Ph.D.

In his talk, Dr. Zeidner, Professor of Educational Psychology and Human Development at the University of Haifa, Israel, will survey some recent research conducted in his lab with regard to Emotional Intelligence (EI). This research done in collaboration with colleagues in the U.S. (Richard Roberts, Gerald Matthews) is designed to tease out the sense from the nonsense and to distill what’s what in theory, measurement, and applications. In particular, he will present a number of general principles for developing educational intervention programs and for training teachers to be sensitive to the emotional abilities of students in the classroom.
