Faiza Jamil Receives Distinguished Paper Award

Faiza JamilGraduate student Faiza Jamil presented on Sept. 23 at the annual meeting of the Virginia Education Research Association here in Charlottesville. During the meeting Jamil was presented with a plaque for winning the 2010 Distinguished Paper Award at least year’s meeting. Her winning paper was titled “Associations of Pre-service Teachers’ Performance, Personality, and Beliefs with Teacher Self-Efficacy at Program Completion” and was co-authored with Jason Downer and Bob Pianta.

Last April she was invited to present that paper at the American Education Research Association meeting in its Consortium of State and Regional Educational Research Associations paper session.

This year Jamil’s presentation at the state meeting was titled “The Video Assessment of Interactions & Learning: A Measure of Teacher’s Skills in Detecting Effective Classroom Interactions.” It described ongoing research she is conducting at the Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and learning with co-authors Terri J. Sabol, Bridget K. Hamre, and Bob Pianta.
