Anti-Bullying Survey Created by Curry’s Cornell Sees Results

01/03/2012

The Albemarle and Charlottesville school systems have teamed up to identify bullying victims in every elementary, middle, and high school in the Albemarle and Charlottesville districts. The Safe Schools/Healthy Students Albemarle/Charlottesville Project is conducting a Peer Support Survey developed by Curry Professor and Youth-Nex Associate Director Dewey Cornell. The survey allows students and bullying victims to speak out anonymously. It also helps them understand the importance of coming forward and assists them in overcoming embarrassment they may have.  “Students more than anyone else know who is being bullied at school,” said Cornell. “The survey gives school counselors a much-needed starting point for anti-bullying efforts.”  NBC29 Story.
