Paxton Blogs about Crossing Discipline Borders at Curry

Carol Paxton, a third year Applied Development Science doctoral student, penned a new post on the Curry Blog entitled “Crossing Discipline Borders at Curry.”

Paxton is also a fellow in the Virginia Education Science Training (VEST) and actively involved at the Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) and the U.Va Social Development Lab.

In the blog entry, Carol encourages students to get to know people across disciplines:

Then listen to them. Find similarities in your backgrounds. Chatting creates a personal investment, and it opens your ability to hear what they may have to share. Maybe your families come from the same home town, or maybe you’re a fan of the same sports teams. Then find out, is something that they value in their work tied to what you’re working on?
