Read New York Times Article about MyTeachingPartner in NYC Schools


The New York Times article “Teach the Teachers Well” by Suzanne Bouffard highlights a study of the social-emotional learning model 4R’s (Reading, Writing, Respect, and Resolution) with over thirty elementary and secondary teachers across New York City. As part of this pilot, the creators of 4R’s have worked with Jason Downer, director of the Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL), to implement MyTeachingPartner™ (MTP), a coaching model developed at CASTL as a means of supporting teacher-student interactions.

The additional MTP supports have shown promise in further improving the already positive effects of 4R’s stand-alone model.

Compared to a previous group of students who participated in 4R’s, those whose teachers had My Teaching Partner coaching demonstrated better strategies for solving conflicts with peers and were rated by teachers as having better social and academic skills.
