Dewey Cornell, professor at the Curry School and associate director of Youth-Nex, recently spoke with NPR’s Scott Neuman. In Neuman’s article, Violence in Schools: How Big a Problem Is It?, Cornell clarifies that while the recent violence at an Ohio high school might make it seem like school violence is on the rise, it is not:
“I know on the heels of any school shooting, there’s the perception that violence is on the rise. It’s not. In fact, there’s been a very steady downward trend for the past 15 years,” said Cornell in the article.
