Foundation Mission - To Benefit the Teaching, Research, and Outreach Programs of the Curry School of Education.
Message from the Executive Director
As a Curry alumnus (Ph.D. ’10 Higher Ed), I am excited to be back at Curry serving in a dual role as Executive Director of the Curry School Foundation and a faculty member in the Higher Education Department. As a donor to both the Annual Fund and the Margaret and Dominic Starsia Scholarship, the opportunity to support a student’s academic career and be a part of Curry’s increasing national prominence is a great privilege – one I know you have experienced as well.
Curry is now ranked 18th nationally by U.S. News & World Report with individual programs ranked even higher: five in the top 10 and two more in the top 20. As the funding model for higher education continues to shift away from state support and toward tuition and philanthropy, scholarships and restricted and unrestricted giving becomes increasingly vital to the School’s success. Our growth in the rankings is a direct result of our pursuit of impactful, innovative, and exciting new initiatives like the Jefferson Education Accelerator and the Classroom Simulator, all made possible by your giving to Curry.
In the coming months, we will begin a program of outreach designed to share progress on JEA and the Simulator, as well as to introduce new initiatives, all of which will play a significant role in the success of the upcoming Bicentennial Campaign. Our ability to connect the initiatives, many of which are threaded among the schools and units at UVA, to resources, will have a truly transformative effect across the spectrum of Curry’s programs and will underpin the campaign. Donor feedback is critical to this process. Please feel free to contact me with your thoughts related to where we should focus our attention, which programs resonate with you, and how we can work together to move Curry forward.
I also invite you to join us again in supporting the Curry School Annual Fund. By doing so, you can help create lasting systemic change in the way public education fosters the academic, physical, and emotional wellbeing of every student.
Every gift, regardless of size, truly matters. Building a community of philanthropists who share a common vision and goal is the grist of the fundraising mill. My team promises to steward your gift and your partnership well to advance the promise of education in our country and beyond.
Thank you for your generosity.
