MPE Open Workshops Spring 2020 - Social Justice 101,  Tuesday March 3: 5-6:00 PM in the Multicultural Student Center | More Info and RSVP
This workshop re-frames multiculturalism around social justice and the importance of exploration through an equitable lens. Students will establish shared understanding of important social justice language, terminology, and explore the impact of privilege on lived experiences.

"Out of the Darkness" Walk, Saturday March 21, at 11 AM in the front of New Cabell Hall | More Info
Sign up to participate in the "Out of the Darkness" walk to prevent suicide at UVA. The walk is on Saturday, March 21, and it starts at 11am in front of Old Cabell Hall. The "Love Squad" is a team of LGBTQ+ and allied folx who are dedicated to supporting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. We hope to raise $100 to contribute to the important cause that this walk represents. Feel free to reach out to Blair Smith with any questions. Join the team here.

Public Service Week is an event series highlighting UVA’s ongoing contributions to public outreach programming, community-engaged teaching, and public impact research, all at the heart of the University’s “great and good” mission.


Film Screening - Connecting Lives, Opening Hearts: Community-Engaged Teaching, Monday, March 23 from 4:30-7:00PM in Newcomb Theatre | Register
The evening will feature a screening of Seats at the Table, a 90-minute documentary by Rosalia Films about UVA's Books Behind Bars program founded by Associate Professor Andrew Kaufman in 2009. Now in its 10th year, the course has UVA students meet weekly with students in a juvenile correctional center in Virginia to explore questions of meaning, value, and social justice through life-changing conversations about Russian literature.
