Amy Smith is a Research Specialist with the EdPolicyWorks research center in the Curry School of Education and Human Development. She primarily manages data cleaning and analysis for large-scale early childhood policy studies such as the Study of Early Educators - Louisiana. She has previously worked as a research assistant, data collector, and teacher trainer for two other early childhood initiatives within Curry, the My Teaching Partner: Math/Science curriculum assessment and the Virginia Kindergarten Readiness Program; in addition to previously working as a Lead Teacher in a classroom of three-year-olds in Richmond, VA. She is particularly interested in early childhood workforce issues such as teacher wellbeing, mental health, and compensation. She holds a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology with a concentration in Research, Statistics, and Evaluation from the University of Virginia, and a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, with College Honors, from the University of Washington.
