Curry Planning to Launch Undergraduate Majors in Education

The Curry School of Education and Human Development is excited to announce plans to launch three undergraduate majors.

Once approved by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia and the Virginia Department of Education, these programs will lead to initial licensure and a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. Programs will be offered in:

  • Elementary Education (prek-6)
  • Early Childhood Education (prek-3)
  • Special Education - General Curriculum (K-12)

These undergraduate degrees will increase the offerings available to students interested in becoming teachers in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Students will be eligible to apply for these programs during the first or second year of study. The Curry School will accept applications from internal transfers (current UVA undergrads) and external transfers (undergraduate students at other institutions). These applications will be made available in fall 2019 in preparation for an anticipated program launch of fall 2020.

More information will be made available this summer. If you wish to receive notifications as the undergraduate programs are approved, developed, and launched, sign up for our listserv
