Direct Admission for Curry Graduate Programs

Beginning with spring 2018 admissions, the Curry School will offer a direct admission option to current UVA students wishing to enroll in select graduate programs. This program allows prospective students to secure space in Curry graduate programs earlier than the regular admission option and requires a simpler application.

General Direct Admission Application Requirements

All Curry programs offering the direct admission option have the following application requirements. Select programs listed below have additional requirements. See program listings below for additional requirements. Students who apply via direct admission but do not meet general and program-specific requirements will be instructed to complete the regular application for admission. Unless noted below, all students who meet the general and program-specific requirements will be automatically accepted into the programs to which they apply via the direct admission application.

General Requirements (all programs):

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program at UVA and on track to graduate before beginning a graduate program (non-degree students are not eligible to apply as a direct admit applicant)
  • Minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA in a UVA undergraduate or graduate degree program at the time of admission
  • Submission of a goal statement
  • For students currently enrolled in schools other than Curry, payment of the application fee (this fee will be waived for direct admission applicants currently enrolled in Curry degree or certificate programs)
  • Direct admission applications must be submitted before February 1. Applications will be reviewed as they are submitted, so applicants who submit applications earlier will receive decisions earlier.
  • Not required: submission of letters of recommendation, writing samples, transcripts, or test scores

For a list of programs offering direct admission and for program-specific requirements please see below. If you have additional questions after reading this page please contact us at curry-admissions@virginia.edu.
