Effective Classroom Interactions: Development of Online Coursework
This three-year project will develop and test an online course for early childhood teachers, focused on improving the quality of their interactions with young children. The online course will be based on a course developed by the National Center for Research in Early Childhood Education (NCRECE). Recent research has demonstrated that this in-person course was effective in improving the quality of teachers’ interactions with young children. We anticipate building on this success by developing an online version that can be accessed by more teachers and that takes advantage of the web as a way to engage teachers in professional learning. The project will progress in three phases, an initial module which will be tested with 15 teachers, a field test version tested with 30 teachers, and a pilot version tested with 100 teachers.
