Justin Thompson, M.S., Ph.D., serves as associate dean of management and planning for the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia. Administrative functions he oversees include Curry School human resources, budget, finance, financial aid, admission, clinical operations, fundraising, alumni relations, communications, marketing, dean's office operations, and information technology. Dr. Thompson holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Education Leadership, Foundations and Policy. Recent teaching assignments include graduate courses in management, planning, economics, finance and history of higher education.
Mr. Thompson engages in professional development activities with Chinese higher education leaders, both in Charlottesville and abroad. Areas of research interest include leader succession in higher education and governance of research universities. Over a nearly twenty-year career in higher education, Justin has held leadership roles in operations, academic affairs and university advancement. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Structural Biology at the University of Illinois, a Master of Science in College Student Personnel at Western Illinois University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Education at the University of Virginia
