Professor, Special Education

At Curry Since 1975

This spring, Kneedler is stepping down as Senior Associate Dean for Academic Partnerships and International Initiatives and turning her attention in a new direction. She is a founding member of the directorate that governs the new U.Va. Contemplative Sciences Center. Her online course on Emotional and Behavioral Disorders emphasizes the impact of mindfulness on teacher performance and classroom management.

“I see great connections between the needs of our special education populations and these approaches that promote mindfulness, yoga, and other contemplative practices,” she says. “I am passionate about the growing evidence demonstrating the effectiveness of these approaches with a broad spectrum of special education needs.”
