Counselor Ed Student Named Chi Sigma Iota Leadership Fellow


Emily BessThe Rho Beta Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, the international academic and professional honor society in counseling, located at the University of Virginia is proud to announce the selection of Curry School of Education student Emily Bess as a Leadership Fellow for 2014-2015.  Bess is a student in the Counselor Education masters program at the Curry School.

Each year, Chi Sigma Iota, the international academic and professional honor society in counseling, selects 10 active members to participate in its Leadership Fellow and Intern program.  Those selected provided evidence of leadership potential within their chapter. The 10 leadership fellows receive recognition, specialized leadership training, and financial support to attend CSI activities held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the American Counseling Association.

Bess currently serves as president of the Rho Beta Chapter of CSI.  In addition to her studies, Emily, has served as a graduate assistant for the counselor education program. She currently is a school counseling intern, also serving as a dance coach, and looks forward to beginning her doctoral work in executive leadership later this year.

The Rho Beta Chapter, under the leadership of Assistant Professor Paul Harris, chapter faculty advisor, was chartered in 1989, initiating over 400 members.

Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) initiated almost 100,000 counselors and counselors-in-training since its establishment in 1985. Over 15,000 members remain active in more than 350 university-based chapters.
