Stephanie Walsh Tharp completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, majoring in Exercise Science with a minor in Instruction. Prior to returning to graduate school, she held positions in customer service, sales, and administrative assistance in North Carolina and Virginia. In 2007, she received her Master of Teaching degree at the University of Virginia’s Curry School in Pedagogy, concentrating in Health and Physical Education and was awarded the Martha Nelson Bradley Fellowship. Stephanie has taught in both private and public schools and has coached both soccer and field hockey. She is a mom of three boys, and the eldest was diagnosed with autism at UVA in 2005. After several years of navigating the various medical and educational avenues available for children with autism, Stephanie looks forward to helping families throughout Virginia and beyond as a STAR Initiative Family Navigator.
