'LET'S TALK AFTER-SCHOOL'
OCTOBER 16 & 17, 2014

Welcome to the Youth-Nex annual fall conference website. Please register for the invitation-only event below,
by October 9.  NOTE: Because capacity is limited, we encourage you to register as early as you can confirm your attendance. 

Cost: The invitation-only conference is free. Breakfast and lunch will be provided free of charge to attendees.

CONFERENCE SUMMARY
Youth-Nex is a transdisciplinary, cross-University center focusing on the capabilities of young people, in connection to health, communities, schools, and relationships.  

This year we are excited to feature a number of youth participants throughout the conference schedule. We envision lively discussion and engaging workshops on topics including why after-school matters to positive youth development, best practices, and how we can shape policy and practice to promote positive youth experiences and outcomes in the after-school hours.

REGISTRATION
Please register, as early as you can confirm your attendance.

Please Check-in at the event, and register online by Oct. 9.
Check-in will be from 7:30 a.m. - 8:45 a.m., Oct. 16.
Breakfast will be served from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. on Oct. 16; and from 8:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. on Oct. 17.

KEYNOTE
The keynote time and date has been changed and will be given Thursday, Oct 16 from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. by Khary Lazarre-White, J.D. - Executive Director & Co-Founder, The Brotherhood/Sister Sol - “Developing and Transforming Youth”

Dietary preferences can be requested on the registration form, with adherence to registration deadline.

All or portions of the conference proceedings may be video-taped and/or photographed by Youth-Nex and media representatives. Attendance assumes this acknowledgment.

The conference will be held at Alumni Hall at the University of Virginia, in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The Courtyard Charlottesville Marriott and The Cavalier Inn are very close to the event venue. The Courtyard Charlottesville Marriott is approximately .9 miles, from the conference location, or approximately 15 minutes by foot. There are many other hotels near the conference.

There will be NO parking at Alumni Hall. The nearest parking is located down the block, one-tenth of a mile south of Alumni Hall.

From Alumni Hall, go south on Emmet Street for 1/10 mile. Turn left into the garage. The garage is located between Thompson Road and McCormick Road.

Directions to the Marriott Courtyard Charlottesville - University Medical Center Hotel from Charlottesville/Albemarle Airport (CHO)
- Proceed straight out of Airport exit onto Airport Road.
- Follow 1 mile to Route 29.
- Make a right on Route 29 (South).
- Follow Route 29 8 miles to intersection with University Ave.
- Make a left on University Ave (which changes name to West Main Street).
- The hotel is one mile on the Left.
(Buses and other oversized vehicles must take alternate route please call the property).

Air
Charlottesville is serviced by Charlottesville Albemarle Airport (CHO) which is approximately 20 minutes from the University. The Richmond airport is approximately one hour from Charlottesville.

The Charlottesville Airport is approximately 20 minutes from the University and conference accommodations. CHO offers over 50 daily non-stop flights to and from Charlotte, Philadelphia, New York/LaGuardia, Washington/Dulles, Atlanta and Chicago. It is served by Delta Connection, United Express, American Eagle and US Airways Express.

Richmond International Airport (RIC)
Richmond is a little over one hour from Charlottesville.  These carriers provide service to Richmond: AirTran, American, Continental, Delta, JetBlue, United and US Airways.
